Fight 04:57
Everybody knows about it, everyone can see You got honey dripping from the trees that were planted, They were planted by me Everyone seems so glad about it, Would you look at what he’s done? But it was on my dime, my time working hard That brought you where, where you wanted to be I do not want to be this way ‘Cause my mother, my mother, my mother raised me right Yeah you made the coffee in the morning just to Send me off to work And then the squalor took over, pride grew up around you, Oh it blocked your view ‘Bout what I was doing, you did not deserve that time You took every second from my wallet but the Worst part I gave it all, I gave it all for free I do not want to be this way ‘Cause my mother, my mother, my mother raised me right I do not want to be this way ‘Cause my mother, my mother, my mother taught me to fight Fight, she taught me to fight.

Burn 02:47
There’s a photo of you and I and I’m embarrassed about my hair and you’ve got that prideful stare In your hands was my first taste of pleasure but you turned it into shame so I learned to do the same And all I wanted was to stay warm so I learned the burn that always sets me free My crooked teeth made their way to millions when you wrote it all down ‘bout how I left you In your hands was every kind of pleasure but I turned your love down yes I turned your love down And all I wanted was to stay warm so I learned the burn that always And all I wanted was to stay warm so I learned the burn that always You’re not the first to feed the flame Catching fire from limb to limb Finding growth beneath the underbrush My heart burns like the sun All I wanted was to stay warm so I learned the burn that always All I wanted was to stay warm so I learned the burn that always All I wanted was to stay warm so I learned the burn that always sets me free

The stories you’ve been writing are what you’d expect Other people want to hear, isn’t that right? Where is that song I know that you can sing? Paralyzed by what hasn’t happened yet. Love is gonna set you free A lion yes he needs a mane but a bird needs a nest I want to hear that song so just give up enough White lies and tight lips are a kiss of loneliness Hold fast, hold tightly but give your love Love is gonna set you free A lion yes he needs a mane but a bird needs a nest I want to hear that song so just give up enough I can’t say that I’ve given up enough From my shaky hands like tree trunks If you stay long I swear I’ll give it up I keep a white lie like a steam punk A heart needs all your blood but a heart needs some give A lion yes he needs a mane but a bird needs a nest I want to hear that song so just give up enough A lion, Oh a lion, oh oh oh oh

I can picture your arms but I never remember the bones in your embrace Since the last trip north at the end of December there were new lines in your face Do you push it aside when you can’t understand it? Does it come to you in waves? I was already gone and the month hadn’t ended before you could ask me to stay Bring in firewood over ice on the doorsill alone no one will know About a slip cracked hip or a call from the doctor news I’ll hear tomorrow The kindest thing I could have done was be cruel to you those last three months Take me home, you’re my home, you’re my home I can picture your arms but I never remember the bones in your embrace

This Town 02:56
This Town is the grounds on which we lay, our hearts up on the bar We were patient with the drunken mean talk and we held the legs for dancing on table tops And we listened when the jokes fell flat and the notes as well hell we raised a glass Woah-oh We never took stock of the fortress we had built with her walls of protection against our well earned guilt and our bruises were forgiven in truth and our arms were armaments against the things that we do We can not stand up straight We can not fall asleep ‘Cause open or closed You’re all, you’re all our eyes can see You’re all we see Everything broke even the iron and the stone and castle life is nothing when you’re all alone, and we know without you both we’ll never get to see The kingdom we could have been oh eventually We can not stand up straight We can not fall asleep ‘Cause open or closed You’re all, you’re all our eyes can see You’re all we see This town is the grounds on which we lay, our hearts up on the bar We carve our scars into each others arms So we can hold on

You were supposed to always be here My Ancient Future dear But a mark on the timeline dropped in Cracked a fissure in the pleasure now the joy is gone Oh We found the lake, but we didn’t know The magic we felt was you Now we make our way back to the beach and we know The last spell was cast there’s nothing new Oh, Where did you go? Still finding notes, photographs and clothes You’re everywhere we go But we can’t play a track back to hear you laugh Can’t feel a thing without your friendly smack Oh,Where did you go? We don’t know which way to go The compass is busted we’re all alone Should we come closer to what we know? Or just get out, find something new? Oh,Where did you go? You were supposed to always be here, my Ancient Future dear

Storm Cloud 03:07
Like a storm cloud gathering up You scared away the prey but nurtured us with rain Got an unplayed dartboard, an empty chair, an unread book But I ain’t got no hands on my shoulders, no voice that shook Got flowers overflowing in my bathtub But you know, I ain’t got your love I ain’t got your love Like a storm cloud gathering up You scared away the prey but nurtured us with rain

The ancient Gods went on a fishing trip Tried to catch the world’s largest serpent Coiled ‘round the globe She would not succumb But you know the Gods they will not be They will not be undone So they asked a question of the Northern Woods: Who caught the fish when no one else could? So they took our man To the night sky See him hauling catches for all For all of time We don’t believe these stories we tell Though we still see the shapes in the clouds We don’t believe these stories we tell But we’re casting you In these imaginary plays We do it all, we do it all Just to see your face. It’s not easy to be the god of revelry Give the people bliss but do not let it turn to fury Dionysus must have grown Tired and weary Trying to get folks to let go Let go of their fear Who amongst you knows about bliss? Who can ride a chariot while still givin’ a kiss? So Dionysus took our wild one Now she’s throwing parties at the top The top of the mountain We don’t believe these stories we tell Though we still see the shapes in the clouds We don’t believe these stories we tell But we’re casting you In these imaginary plays We do it all, we do it all Just to see your face. Oh Ursa major and the minor bear Musta been looking just about everywhere For a pair with a light so bright They could light up the whole northern sky Oh And these stories we tell We know they’re not true But well tell them still So we can always Remember you.

There are some things We thought you might want to know In our minds and sometimes right out loud We still talk to you You can now get a Bohito on the Rox. We’re spellin’ it R-O-X. And Sarita’s chest really does look best inside that dress, yeah And Sarah found your stupid, plastic, oh your stupid plastic unicorn Woah-oh-oh these are the things, the things we thought you ought to know The library has some extra Cash for new books We got new ink, paper carnes, magic wands And anything that reminds us of you And our friend Chris, is getting a bright red phoenix Woah-oh-oh these are the things, the things we thought you ought to know We let the flowers float away at Magic beach And your loved ones moved in together to a brand new place And the night we all found out, you shut down downtown, you shut down downtown, you shut down the whole damn town Woah-oh-oh these are the things, the things we thought you ought to know These are the things, the things, the things that we wish we that could tell you We wish that we could tell you

We Know 03:38
No one needs to know the secrets that you wrote about No one needs to know the way you felt that Thursday night No one needs to know Yes it’s true my dear you smoked too many cigarettes Yes it’s true my dear your work undone left you with regrets Yes it’s true my dear And we know what we know ‘cause you told us Yes we know what we know ‘cause you tolds us Yes we know-o-o-o-o-o-o ‘cause you told us so You never said aloud you’d move mountains for Isabelle You never said aloud you’d handmade a gift just for us You never said out loud Yes it’s true my dear you couldn’t keep us away from our sins Yes it’s true my dear you still did your best to save our skin Yes it’s true my dear And we know what we know ‘cause you showed us Yes we know what we know ‘cause you showed us Yes we know-o-o-o-o-o-o-o ‘cause you showed us so And these paintings pain our hearts as we cross the threshold We read the word sweets and it mocks us as we go ‘Cause nothing sweet is here to endear us to the truth evermore We’ll never see you walking in from the kitchen’s swinging door And we know what we know ‘cause we loved you Yes we know what we know ‘cause we loved you Yes we know-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, ‘cause we loved you so

about

In the spring of 2015 we reached out to five of our independent musician colleagues/great friends to ask them if they would be part of the creation, revision and production of a WPC song. Without hesitation, they all said yes. These collaborations took place over the next six months in basements, living rooms and practice spaces all over the country, on line, via text, and of course during the actual recording sessions. Jen, Henry, Ringo, Isaac and Zoob gave us their full creative brilliance in order to bring these songs to life. Making art is all about taking risks and inviting in love. We hope you all enjoy what happened when we took the risk of putting our friends in charge and invited them into the WPC creative process with all of our love. We think they did an incredible job! We are forever grateful to you for listening, and to all of our fellow musicians/independent music fans for creating a far reaching and supportive community we consider to be family. We love you.

Chris met Sasha in 2010 when they were both cast in a Bangor Maine production of the rock ‘n roll musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch. They have been working together ever since to find where disparate influences come together to create melody forward, hard hitting, genre bending rock ‘n roll.
